In Brazil, another 19 million are in an even more delicate food situation. We have almost 130 million people suffering from hunger, more than half of our population, proportionately larger than Cuba and ten times more than Cuba
Brazil is a failure of a state that suffers from a hyper corrupt government. I recall in the past it was socialist and that changed nothing. Giving a corrupt government absolute control won't change anything.
I have also answered this question, why did you ignore my answer?
Actually, Brazil managed to get many ppl out of poverty with the Lula government, and this neo-liberalism agenda the current government is pushing isn't friendly at all to poor ppl and minorities.
I haven't ignored your answer at all. US blocked Cuba because it wasn't within their "parameters of Democracy", according to the "US's" own words.
Looked up Lula, guy is alright, though he seemed to be insanely corrupt at the end of the day too. So who knows.
US blocked Cuba for a variety of political reasons, though looking at it it seems to be much longer lasting than most people realize. And because USA is punishing Cuba.
"Guy is alright". Man, the matter is much more complex than you think. You can't summarize him with these words lol. You didn't even know him before.
US started blocking Cuba in the Eisenhower, actually. The former Baptista dictator was backed by the States, but the subsequent ruler was a Marxist and backed the URSS
You can't describe him as alright despite knowing almost 0 from him is what I'm saying.
I know why the US dislike Cuba. I know the reason they started their blockades. I never contested that. In fact, I went pretty in depth in my reading on all the history regarding the sanctions and blockades, conflicts between US and Cuba.
The US was antagonistic toward Cuba and forced it to get support from the USSR, now Russia and China. Can't really blame it for defending itself against the US. Castro wasn't even a Marxist-Leninist until 2 years after he overthrew US-backed dictator Batista, probably at least partly motivated by his need for support from the USSR.
He doesn't need to treat it as an ally, but it didn't stop there. The USA promptly impeded other nations from negotiating with Cuba by indirect means, by penalizing foreigner industries that wanted to do business with Cuba.
Not wanting to have it as an ally is one thing, hindering other nations from negotiating with it is another ballgame and demonstrates how preposterous it is.
The USSR collapsed during 1988---1991 FYI. The impeding from other countries from negotiating with Cuba started in 1992
Your reasons are all over the place. You said it's because Cuba was allied to the USSR when the latter actually had collapsed when the further blockade entered in action. The actual reason, as per the Wikipedia:
