I’m just saying that AT’s most likely always aligned closer to that than what happened in manga/anime.

You could argue it kind-of aligns with the movies. AT’s original idea was that Goku & Vegeta could even defeat Merged Zamasu together & didn’t need to fuse to defeat him.
