How strong is this guy? What we know is that he is a lot stronger than Tenshinhan and post 22nd Goku, but what exactly is the upper limit to his strength? Discuss.

Drum was probably messing around against Tenshinhan. After Tenshinhan hit him, Drum moved behind him faster than he could see and one shotted him. Pikkoro was also confident that Drum could kill Goku, despite him being >> Tenshinhan.

True, Drum is untouchable to even post-Zenkai Goku.

I don't know really. Do you think he powered-up just before fighting Piccolo-Daimao? If not then he was still > Initial Piccolo-Daimao by a noticeable amount.

I have him around post 22nd Combat Level Goku, or maybe slightly above at best.

Daimao thought that he could kill Goku in five seconds, and everyone else was shocked when Goku stopped Daimao's blow, so I'd say there was an effort increase there.

That's true. But maybe it was more in a he can one-shot Drum, but can he defeat Piccolo-Daimao way? Like Piccolo-Daimao can one-shot Drum, too and it's no big deal from him either. But yeah it could be like you said. Makes more sense probably.

I would like to have Drum's gap on Tambourine be the same as Young Piccolo's gap on Old Piccolo, but I think that's pushing Drum's power too far. Even if he was messing around, Ten still managed to hit him, and he never displayed anything as impressive as tanking a Kamehameha, which makes me think he should be below 40% Old Daimao.

That's for sure. I think less than half-power Old Piccolo-Daimao could own Drum easily.

Goku's Zenkai post 22nd Budokai and post Tambourine was quite significant and yet Piccolo Daimao was sure Goku wouldn't be a menace to Drum. I also think old Daimao constantly speaking that he can't spawn that strong underlings when in his advanced age implies his "true underlings" wouldn't be done in by whoever killed Cymbal and Tambourine. Considering that, Drum was quite a lot above Tenshinhan, not anything less than a 1.5x gap, unless Tenshinhan also got a power up from learning the Mafû-Ba.

We are not sure if Goku got a zenkai. It's a tough call. What's the quote that puts Drum > Goku, didn't know about that.

Interesting. I kind of lean on there being no zenkai here. It's tough though. I've always gone back and forth.

If you don't give him a zenkai, it makes Piccolo's power feel less majestic. People also like to take that quote about he didn't think people could be this strong in this age to mean Goku > Mutaito, but I call bull on that. He's talking about the time period imo.

It's hard not to give him a zenkai when we see Goku ( Vs General Blue ) > Goku ( vs Jackie Chun ), especially after he was very damaged after Muscle Tower...

But what you gave him, seemed pretty appropriate.

But it's tough, I don't think the author is implying that Goku post sensu 23rd Budokai and Piccolo post sensu would mean Goku would win, do you? It's tough.

It's going to be hard to say Goku would have easily handled him in that situation you know? Also, what then, Piccolo trains harder over the 5 years to catch up? I don't like the narrative that goes along with that. Decisions, decisions.
