Flight Speeds

What do you guys think is up with the inconsistency with flight speeds? It's very noticeable on Namek, where AT made it clear that the stronger the fighter, the faster their flight speed.. For example - Vegeta catching up to Gohan and Krillin at the Great Elders', or the Ginyu Force beating Vegeta and co. to their own Dragon Balls.

However a couple inconsistencies I noticed - potential unlocked Gohan and Krillin keeping up with Vegeta's speed when rounding up the Dragon Balls, Gurd being as fast as the Ginyus despite Krillin making note of how out of place he is. Do you guys have any explanations?

I go with Toriyama just being retardedly inconsistent in minor areas like he usually is. There's no way to explain Goku-Ginyu being suddenly faster than his purple horned self and yet slower than Gohan and Krillin at the same time

Flight speeds' gaps are not as wide as fighting speeds'/reflexes' gaps.

It's just mad inconsistent. Vegeta had to resort to swimming instead of flying because he thought Freeza would catch him instantly, yet Dodoria couldn't do the same to Gohan and Krillin. 530k is in a different dimension than 29-30k, but 20k+ is still way above their minuscule levels.

Flight speeds' gaps are not as wide as fighting speeds'/reflexes' gaps.

The scene with SSJ Gotenks would imply the opposite if Piccolo thought he could scale Gotenks' actual combat speed linearly from it.

Then again, the Boo Arc is the most inconsistent mess in the original manga, so that could go either way in comparing Flight Speed in the series as a whole.

I mean, there's also Base Gohan (presumably going all-out otherwise why not mention that?) only going a low Mach number by the Boo Saga, when he should be much faster. Toriyama didn't care about the specifics as long as it sounded good to him.
