Tenshinhan: “[Trunks] is the man who took down Freeza…And he was helpless before these androids…I’ll be frank…! No matter how strong Goku may be, he shouldn’t be that different from Trunks or Vegeta…He definitely can’t win…! Not even Goku…”

God: “Things turned out this way against the androids…Even for that ‘Trunks’ boy who came from the future and instantly obliterated Freeza and his father…and even for Vegeta, whose abilities are even greater than Trunks…”

Kuririn: “Goku, tell us—This thing’s even more terrible than Freeza. Are you scared by that? Or excited?”

Why during the Arc Freeza is still brought as a big deal? He was supposed to be complete fodder from the moment Trunks sliced him, but he still used as a measure stick for the SSJs power. Does this imply Piccolo and the two first Androids can't replicate the same feat, thus are still weaker than him?

Freeza was the tyrant of the universe, his Arc started with the Saiyans and ended with the explosion of a planet and almost death of the Z Fighters.

Gero and his obese ragdoll were easily manhandled and the Cyborg twins just wanted to have fun. They sure were strong, but nowhere near a Freeza-level foe.

This makes sense with Kuririn labeling Cell as more terrible than Freeza, thus not implying Cell was the first to surpass Freeza's power, but to surpass his fearsomeness.

What about Tenshinhan and God using Freeza's defeat as a measure stick to the SSJs? Shouldn't Piccolo beating 20 post be more impressive? Doesn't this imply Freeza is only defeatable by the SSJs?

Even if it was it still makes sense what Krillin said about the ''thing's'' which can refer a group as well and since Cell is an Android too then why not?

Kami and Tien mentioned Freeza's defeat to point out how useless the guy who defeated them was against the Androids. Kami goes one step further and mentions Vegeta (a healed Goku as well) as well. It's basically pointing out how useless the Super Saiyans are in the face of the new enemy. There'd be no reason to mention Piccolo beating up #20 in this context when we know he's weaker than the Super Saiyans Kami just spoke of.

Fearless, "thing's" is singular. "This thing is" is how it comes out. He's referring to a single enemy. It's Cell. "These things" would've been referring to a group.
