The gap between them is evidently sizable, but just how big is it? Usually I tend to go with a 1.5x gap, but according to the statements in the Boo arc, it could be even larger.
First of all, when Gohan turns into a SSj2 at the Budokai, Vegeta states this:
Vegeta: “…Hmph…That bastard, he was far, far better when he killed Cell. It’s because he slacked off in his training during peacetime…”
So Cell Games Gohan >> Boo arc Gohan
Some time later, we see Dabra, and when asked about his power, Goku compares him to Cell.
Goku: “Yeah…Well, even if that wasn’t him at full force…I think that before he would have been a frightening opponent, but…7 years ago there was a guy called ‘Cell’…[Dabra]’s probably about as strong as him…”
For the sake of the topic, let's assume that Gohan was a SSj vs Dabra, and that the Cell Goku was comparing Dabra to was the powered up variant he fought.
Dabra ~ Cell (vs. Goku)
However, when Gohan actually start fighting, Goku states:
Chapter: 455 (DBZ 261), P6.1-2
Context: as Dabra fights Gohan
Goku: “Magic, huh? He’s way stronger than I thought, ain’t he?”
One could argue that Goku was referring to Dabra's abilities, but in that case I think Goku would've used the word tough instead. What seems to be implied is:
Cell Games Gohan >> Boo arc Gohan ~ Dabra >> Dabra (Initial) ~ Cell (vs. Goku) > Cell Games Goku
There are other implications that could possibly make the chain bigger. What do you guys think of the chain above? What do you have the gap at?
