How much stronger than Gotenks is Goku? Could he be much stronger?

In Freeza Saga, it was implied Goku got 50x stronger. No such a massive gap was implied for fused fighters.

I don't know wasn't there a moment with Dr. Gero in the android arc where he calculated that the power of the humans + Piccolo would be stronger than Vegeta? As well as Future Gohan going toe to toe with SSJ Trunks?

If we include Toei then SSJ is unquestionably not a 50x increase too.

I've been gathering a lot of info that suggests SSJ multipliers are whack.

~ Gero considering sub Base Saiyans levels good sources of energy;
~ Kili Meter, though this one is the most debatable;
~ Vegeta and Trunks' boosted SSJ2 levels;
~ SSJB is worlds above golden forms but is barely 10x SSJ1;
~ SSJ Gogeta and Broly are equals despite Gogeta having a far stronger base;
~ Rildo's statement on Goku using <50% power

Very true, I think I the 50x, 2x and 4x all don't have any real basis in the same story and are just accepted out of convenience
