Gogeta in the Future Trunks arc

Do you all think using Gogeta in the Future Trunks arc would've been a better idea than using Vegetto and retconning the Potara's properties? Or maybe would you have preferred no Fusion at all?

I would've preferred no fusion at all. Fusion always fails in DB, and I though Black was an interesting character on his own. Merged Zamasu was a bitch.

I thought his design was cool. The half-immortal stuff was pretty stupid, though. The purple deformation thing was pretty hideous too.

I think the worst part was that he (and Scythe Black before him) had a bunch of attacks he only used once, and then threw in the shitter afterwards for no real reason. Maybe he couldn't use some of them after his halo was destroyed, but judging by his performance against Vegetto I highly doubt he had any battle fatigue until he went buff and him only using the basic form of Black's blade/scythe was also something I never understood.

in the manga it was somewhat understandable, because Vegetto was so far above him that they couldn't have a fair fight while he was massively above the unfused Saiyans, but the anime version just spent a whole episode giving him tons of pointless, huge attacks that did nothing in the end.

They could have still used Vegetto without retconning shit.

Potara was already retconned in the Boo arc. Changing it to an hour was stupid, but I don't see why everyone gets so upset about it. Vegetto defused in Z because of "bad air". lol

That can at least be justified since the Potara are a product of the Kaioshin, who clearly interact oddly with Boo (Kaioshin’s energy couldn’t be used to resurrect Boo, Dai Kaioshin and South Kaioshin absorption worked differently than others, etc.).

 

[Ultimate Cell]

Gogeta should have been use if they still wanted Trunks to be the hero and shit. Nothing would have changed if they replaced Vegito with Gogeta. Plus it would have been great fan service

Still pretty dumb since the only real reason for them defusing was to give Goku and Vegeta the final battle. Would've rather seen Vegetto kill Boo and use the DBs to revert back.

I'm not bothered either way, seeing as how any sort of fusion is a cheap hax of lazy writing, yet one that can't be ignored. I'd probably say Potara made more sense, since I can't imagine Zamasu just standing around and waiting for the two Saiyans to perform the dance.
