Goku KHH vs Cell

Logically speaking, why would Goku bother using a FP KHH against Cell? He was fighting to give Gohan an understanding of how Cell fights, and even went as far as to replenish Cell's power after their fight. Doesn't this make this attack completely useless and pointless then? If he didn't give Cell the bean then I'd say otherwise, but we all know how that went..

probably his pride as a martial artist? I tend to think he knew he had little chance of beating Cell only did it to be sure he tried everything up his sleeve.

Goku's personality (or Saiyan blood as it was later cheapened to) cause him to want to fight to his best against a strong opponent. Even if he knew he couldn't win, he still wouldn't do a half-assed job at losing.

Goku definitely wanted to win. He was surprised Cell still had a lot of Chi left before regenerating, implying that he thought Cell might've been finished.
