Is Bulma really an underappreciated character?

I often see fans that believe Bulma doesn't get the credit she deserves but the thing is... I hardly see anyone deny her place in the series. She isn't a center of jokes for being useless (Krillin) nor is she vilified beyond reason (Yamcha, Chi-Chi). In fact, people are generally quick to come to her defense if someone says something bad about her and some act like people can't not like Bulma.

It's also not like she's neglected by the franchise either. She remains more relevant throughout the series than most of the Z-Warriors without even fighting, she's got a lot of merchandise, Vegeta x Bulma has taken over as the leading couple in Modern Dragon Ball (while Goku x Chi-Chi is pretty much being phased out by Toei and even Toriyama himself), and she's now very predominant in Super.

There are even people who strongly believe Bulma (despite the fact she can't even fight at all) should be in FighterZ... a game that was just announced 2 months ago and is coming out in about 7 months, simply on her status alone.

She may not be uber popular like Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Piccolo, etc. but that's only natural since the main draw of the series is the fighting.

Is she really underappreciated and I'm not involved enough in the community or her fans simply asking for too much?

She's easily the most relevant female character in the series, though is still hard to like beyond her body due to being self-centred and egotistical to the point of annoyance, especially with anime filler such as her flipping out with Yamcha over misunderstandings. Makes sense why she ended up with Vegeta, now that I think about it.
