Is the so-called 'rival boost' a thing?

I've seen several fans almost commiting seppuku due to the fact that they overdebate this fan theory; the so-called "rival boost":

Chapter: 504 (DBZ 310), P9.2-3
Context: as Vegetto beats up on Gohan-absorbed Boo
Kaioshin-Kibito: “H-he’s strong!!! Majin Boo there is helpless!!! To think that merging with the Potara would be this incredible…!!”
Elder Kaioshin: “Idiot, it’s because it was those two that they were able to go so far. Two of the top 3 masters in both the living world and afterlife have merged, after all. What’s more, two rivals have joined together. That’s definitely strongest"

What are your opinions on that last sentence? I, personally, don't think the so-called rival boost is a thing, and if it is, it shouldn't be anything more than a 2x boost in my opinion. I think that Elder Kaioshin was talking about how two rivals merged together make a formidable warrior with the most formidable ability, due to how two rivals complement each other.

The guidebooks also say nothing about the "rival boost", and Toriyama has also never said anything about such a boost in the interviews where he talked about the Potara fusion. So i personally believe there is no such thing.

What are your thoughts on the 'rival boost'?

The 'rival boost' doesn't provide a significant boost, if at all imo. For instance, it's not why the two Metamorians (who taught Goku the fusion) were rivals they'd end up stronger than Gotenks.

It doesn't seem to be that significant. If it were, there wouldn't be way more focus on the fact that 2 of the 3 greatest masters have fused.
