It's cool that both division commanders stop big names like Kizaru and Mihawk.

Doing some extrapolation, can that maybe show Mihawk and Kizaru are in the same league as the scene shows how amazing the WB pirates are for stopping two heavy weight hitters like them, but at the same time Kizaru > Mihawk since they chose to have Marco, likely the best after WB, stopping Kizaru?

It's the opposite. Jozu is the strongest defensively so he had to deal with the biggest threat.

Well, you have even characters saying "how did he stop those lights from Kizaru?", while Mihawk wasn't given that much emphasis. I think that's a bigger deal.

Well nothing needs to be said for Jozu.

"How did Jozu stop that slash?!?!"

"He's made of diamond you fucking moron."

Marco has insane regeneration. He appears to defend Whitebeard after Jozu. If Jozu appeared later then maybe, but Marco appears later and said "you can't take the main star right off the bat"... I think that's supposed to represent the final nail in the coffin that they aren't getting to Whitebeard easily.

You're forgetting that both of them were equally effective at stalling an admiral though. Both of them only lost once they were distracted. Marco > Jozu overall but Jozu > Marco purely in defense. He's clearly a tank whereas Marco relies on his regenerative abilities. That's the reason why Jozu was the one to stop Mihawk's attack. I don't believe there's any reason to look at it more deeply than that.

This kind of makes me realize how Oda was playing very loosely with the powerscaling of Marineford.

At face value, the commanders looked pretty much equal to the admirals and Mihawk in their respective fights. To the point where they needed to be distracted in order to lose the advantage.

But we know from current scaling that, Zoro who defeated a High end Commander, is still inferior to Mihawk by some measure. That's why I don't adhere to the idea that admirals are well below the Yonko, because Oda had to kind of sacrifice their portrayal by having the Commanders seem competent and powerful.

If that were the case, the build up would be different. And his body isn't the sole reason to mount a powerful defense, Haki is too. Plus, I don't recall anyone mentioning how Jozu is specially tough for his defense when he blocked Mihawk.

@Future Warrior I find it strange that Dofla stopped Jozu and looked very relaxed at the sight of him... Doflamingo, who should be considerably below that level.

Why would they need to build up Jozu again? He already got the attention when he threw that massive fucking iceberg lol.
