He thought it was because of the sword, though. He also tried to open Trunks' guard with the "You can replace my son" talk.

Cold is kind of confusing. He's grouped with suppressed Freeza and Gohan says Freeza was holding back a lot but Cold was actually useful against Freeza, when i doubt he could if Freeza was holding back by multifolds.

Would Jheese and Butta think they could beat Namek Goku if they had a sword? Jheese looked afraid as fuck when he heard Ginyu's estimation that he was 60k, imagine if he was told Goku was 90k there.. I don't think he'd suddenly think he could win if he had a sword.

Freeza isn't sure if he can beat Goku, but he thinks Cold attacking will guarantee a victory.

But the way Freeza comes off gives the impression that Cold's a lot weaker.

The Daizenshuu says he's "somewhat inferior" to Freeza.

It depends, King Cold's true maximum strength or King Cold's 2nd suppressed form?
I would say their strength was:
1. Freezer 100% at 12.000.000
2. King Cold 100% at 5.000.000
3. Mecha Freezer at 1.000.000
4. King Cold suppressed form at 950.000

I don't believe he'd have to be close to Freeza at all. The way Freeza mentioned probably being able to take Goku makes it sound like he'd be at least capable of fighting Goku dead evenly, so shifting the scales with even a ~50% Freeza tier support would be enough for Freeza to have a definite advantage. I have him around 60-65% of organic Freeza's full power.

60-65% is a solid approximation, but I think it should be lower considering Freezer never had to use his 100% ever before facing Goku. And for how he spoke against Goku, I think 50% Freezer (the stronger Freezer could go without forcing his body at all) was enough to handle him already.
