I’m looking at the series again & did AT plan to end the series at this point or is it just me?

Look at chapter 194. The cover is young Goku with the old crew. The chapter is called “The Gift of the DragonBalls”. & in that chapter is almost a retrospective of Goku & his friends’ adventures. Kame-sen’nin says how the DragonBalls brought them all-together in the first place. That almost feels like an ending. Of-course the fact remains a week or so later AT continued with the next saga but still this feels slightly off in that sense.

Goku finally wins the tournament. This feels like the last hurray for his friends. Yamucha who was so in awe & surprised of the KHH in the first saga now made a technique himself that was even greater & with greater ki-controll & praised by Kami-sama. Kuririn fought & seemed to get respect from Piccolo Jr. Kame-sen’nin was proud of all of them. Even Ten-Shin-Han got closure on the shadow of his past.

Then Goku got married.

Do you think this was just AT’s way of saying this is the end of Goku’s child-hood-adventures? Like how Naruto ended & then Naruto-Shippuden? or how One-Piece pre-time-skip ended & then post-time-skip began.

There are Q&As with Toriyama translated in most of the Viz volumes and he speaks about not having much left in the manga IIRC, I'll try to track it down later.

There was another interview I read yesterday where he said DB was polling so high that it became impossible for him to stop writing it. So I believe he planned to end it after DB.

He didn't intend to end it. He first came up with Gokuu being a Saiyan when Kami first appeared. During the Piccolo Junior arc, he had come up with Planet Namekku. By that point, he had already planned for the Saiyan and Namekku arcs; the Namekku arc was gonna be the final arc of the series, but this was long before he had even come up with Freeza. When he actually began the Namekku arc, he had changed his mind about it being the last arc and was no longer sure when he'd end the series.

I looked some stuff-up & it was said in a more recent interview that AT already came-up with the idea of the Freeza saga when Kami-sama & Piccolo Jr. conversed in their language or some-thing.

that said it definitely comes-off to me as AT saying this is the end of Goku’s child-hood-adventures. With all that I said & that all the old friends kind-of had their last hurrah. Goku also achieved what he wanted since his child-hood, winning the Tenkaichi-Budokai. So maybe you can say it’s similar to the other examples I gave. Naruto & Shippuden, One-Piece pre & post-time-skip. Or maybe even Death-Note before & after L’s demise.

So it seems like initially the plan was for 10 total volumes. This interview was published in volume 12. He says he can see it lasting longer than 13 volumes, and in another answer says "I do plan on continuing it for a little longer."

I think even by the beginning of the Boo-Saga AT said he’ll continue a-bit longer or some-thing lol.

They are literally from the same Q&A in volume 12. It states right in the image that the interviews span from volume 7 to volume 12.
