Goku in DBS is only a little stronger than Gohan. No way in hell that he would be capable of taking on Gohan with that strain and the fact that Gohan has virtually the same power as him and has no strain to boot.

When Beerus was fighting Goku, he was just testing Goku to see if he really was the Super Saiyan God that Oracle Fish muttered about.

When Beerus was fighting everyone, he was going for the one-shot already, instead of just testing everyone like he did with Goku.
