Is anyone else surprised or disappointed by how Goten and Trunks have been used in Super? I was never a huge fan of them in Z, but Toriyama made it very clear that they wanted to be involved in whatever was happening in the story. We've seen the likes of the humans, Roshi and others get forced back into the story, so why have two battle hungry kids been left out? It's impossible to believe that they're content beating up thugs at 17's island or whatever the fuck they're doing currently.. lol

Toriyama cares as much about them as he does keeping their age consistent with the timeline.

i don't rly care either-way i think

both of them had more interesting characters at end of series i think, so if they are allowed to grow-up to those characters then that'd be kewl i think

Disappointed? Definitely when the kids being prodigies that could easily be relevant if the plot allowed is no secret. Surprised? Not really when them slacking off is something made evident at the End of Z and they don't seem to be as popular as other support fighters, and popularity trumps common sense when it comes to something purely designed as a corporate cash cow rather than a meaningful story.

They're shitty characters but Gotenks not arriving in ToP (even if it was to only intentionally survive for 30 minutes) was a moronic travesty.

I would think that not only from a story standpoint but a marketing one too that pre-teen/teenish Goten and Trunks would really be gold. When you think about it, most of the main characters at this point are pushing fifty, and some younger characters could actually inject some youth into the show. Young heroes. But they seemed to be purposefully sidelined and kept as visual toddlers, so I'm not expecting much of a change.

GT was guilty of this too, but at least Goten and Trunks had some moments, with Trunks specifically getting a lead role.
