Thoughts on HACKED games

I don't know if anything like this has been done but what do you guys think of the games that have been Hacked and made into different games? I've played a few and I thought they've pretty good some being able to compete with official games.

CrystalDust
Dark Rising 1 & 2 (Almost official game level, the first one at least)
Light Platinum (Good enough to compete with official games)
Shiny Gold
Snakewood
Victory Fire (Good enough to compete with official games)

Most of which are hacks of FireRed except Snakewood & Light Platinum which are hacks of Ruby.

I enjoyed Shiny Gold, but that's all I recall playing. I vaguely remember a Gen 2 hack that had an original map and story, and the starter options were the three legendary birds. I also remember it being quite difficult and quitting after not being able to beat the first gym.

Pretty much all of the Hacks I've played have been hacks of Gen 3 games. I don't think they're any hacks made from Gen 2 games. However Shiny Gold, Crystal Dust, are more or less hacks based around Crystal and Gold. Out of the aforementioned games I listed maybe Light Platinum and Crystal Dust are my favorites.

Are they completed hacks? If they are, I'll check them out. I've seen way too many awesome looking hacks that never even get 50% completed and then the project is dropped.

I haven't played any of them to the end usually getting into another for finding something better to do. But the ones I've listed have all been a lot of fun.

I checked out Light Platinum, which is complete, and its pretty good so far. Its got some gen 5 and 4 pokemon all on a ruby base.

I personally don't like the ones where newer PokÃ©mon are put onto older gens. You can tell how fake the sprites are.

Liquid Crystal is another good Gen 3 hack I just remembered.

The sprites look legit but the cries are recycled cries of other pokemon that already existed at the time the original source of the hacked game was made and you won't get as much EXP as you'd think from taking down some pokemon. In Dark Rising I think I beat a Seismictoad or some evolution of a PokÃ©mon and only got like 2-300 EXP and after taking a down a lv30-40 PokÃ©mon you'd expect more than that, A LOT more.

I used to get my haxes from Coolrom but copyright came in and they got shut down, why? No idea but I haven't really finished any of my haxes. I've been meaning to but just don't feel like it.
