Why are manga more gag than their anime counter-parts?

I’ve seen this more than once seemingly. A-lot of manga (or am I just imagining) seem to have a-lot more gags (even in dramatic moments) than their anime counter-parts/adaptations. Could be as easy as expressions. They either cut it out entirely or tone-down funny expressions. Why? Do anime like to be more dramatic?

People (Now I'm just guessing here) would rather watch a serious Anime than a funny one

And its easier to make a Manga funny... as they dont have to animate it

Directoral preferences. And certain jokes may not transfer well from paper to the small screen.

I find it’s pretty hard for some jokes to translate onto the screen in terms of comedic timing. The “punchiness” of the static visual form is lost.
