The gap between Kid Gohan and Majin Vegeta is either negligible or non-existent in contrast to the gap between SSJ2 Goku and Majin Vegeta being obvious to ki sensing. That's the only thing we know for sure.

Gap A remains unknown. (Z Sword Gohan/Fat Buu-type gap)
Gap B is big enough for Trunks to instantly know one of them is stronger. (SSJ Goku/Frieza-type gap)

Why, as it turns out Majin Vegeta is stronger than CG Gohan by the same amount Z Sword Gohan is stronger than Fat Buu - which is either zero or negative value.

Wanna hear more shocking news? Majin Vegeta is as equal to SSJ2 Goku as 100% Frieza is equal to SSJ Goku. Why? Neither were stated to be.
