19/20s absorption

So when 20 absorbed Piccolo, he was only able to access his suppressed energy. Would he have theoretically been able to absorb Piccolo's full power had he continued absorbing him? If not, you could more or less make their absorption abilities irrelevant by suppressing your ki if they catch you lol.

Not really. Even if they can't absorb your full Ki, it didn't seem as though Piccolo could fight back at all against it or access his full power if he needed Gohan to save him, so that tactic would still run the risk of one dying just because they didn't want to go full power.

Not really. Even if they can't absorb your full Ki, it didn't seem as though Piccolo could fight back at all against it or access his full power if he needed Gohan to save him, so that tactic would still run the risk of one dying just because they didn't want to go full power.
A true warrior would rather die instead of donating their energy to the enemy :giraffe

Gero said Piccolo was almost out of energy right before Gohan intervened. With that, we can deduce that Gero was only capable of absorbing the energy Piccolo had available. Despite that energy being nothing to Piccolo's full-power, it was still enough to leave Piccolo in a pretty weakened state. We've seen Krillin nearly kill Vegeta after he suppressed his power to a low level, so this makes sense.
