1. If Yugi had Kaiba beat in DSoD how come Kaiba still only wants to duel Yami Yugi in the end of the movie?

2. How and why did Kaiba create a card called Mahado? He wasn’t even there in the final arc, so how’d he know? Unless it was an imaginary card, similar to how Kaiba pulled Obelisk except now he pulled a card that never existed in the first place. Worst explanation of all time. Even-though maybe Mahado’s KA was called.

Because Kaiba never truly beat Atem. His ventriloquist/fake counterpart had Yami beat, and he won through threatening to kill himself, after which he lost big time at Battle City and never got to settle the score. Plus Takahashi's post-DSoD artwork showed that Yugi (regular) and Kaiba would once again play a game together on top of the interstellar elevator.

Same reason why Bakura was able to use a card called Diabound-Kernel even though he had no memories of being Zorc or Thief King Bakura. They gotta sell dem cards son.

Maybe his scientists discovered some records on Mahad during the time they excavated the pieces of the Millennium Puzzle and created a new card as a counterpart to the DArk Magician.

Alternatively Atem might have asspulled the card out of nowhere similar to Kaiba asspulling Obelisk

Did Kazuki Takahashi write the duels in the movie too (like duel lay-out/script) & create the new cards or did he just write the script and maybe certain key-moments in the duels and let the studio fill-in the blanks?

Also Kaiba introducing the next-generation duel-disk was kewl & cheesy af.

They said he wrote all the storyboards, but the duel logs themselves might have been done by the studio since Takahashi's original manga duels were often in conflict with OCG rules, like Dark Magician being able to destroy Marshmallon through battle simply by being a Spellcaster and therefore being able to use Magic (Spells) or some bullshit like that.

Also Kaiba introducing the next-generation duel-disk was kewl & cheesy af.

Honestly Kaiba should be the MC of the series, his obsession with beating a dead guy in a card game has gone above and beyond just being a meme and has reached biblical levels. Dude literally got a large scale archeology project started just to find Atem's puzzle and built an elevator that leads to outer space just to assemble it without Yugi wtf lol

The 4Kids dub said that he would use the combined power of the Eye and Puzzle to solidify the hologram of his dead lover and therefore rescue her from the Shadow Realm or some shit lol. But Takahashi himself said something similar in the YuGiOh Bunkoban bonus pages where he said Pegasus planned to revive her hologram.

According to official duel logs the reverse card was Polymerization. Wouldn't have helped him at all.

And with anime effects you never know. They are different than the real card-game. Maybe there was something in his hand or grave-yard with an OP effect.

I think the duel logs were revealed in the novelization or ani-manga, plus Kaiba's only spell card was Polymerization and possibly some other useless garbage at the time that he tried to use Monster Reborn and it got cockblocked.
