A rather ignored piece of evidence for Goten and Trunks being at least above a Cell Jr in their SSJ forms

Credits go to @Mike for unknowingly helping me to formulate this theory by mentioning Piccolo's quote in a debate on DBWiki

Chapter: 468 (DBZ 274), P12.7
Piccolo: “These two are our only hope…! Th-though it’s a faint hope…”
Note: this is before Fusion is mentioned

As we see here, Piccolo states that both Goten and Trunks are their only hope, before fusion is mentioned. This means Piccolo does not consider himself a possible candidate to save the Earth(which was already obvious in the first place) and thus it means Piccolo is decently weaker than Goten and Trunks.

Seven years before the statement, back in the Cell Games, Piccolo managed to hold his own or at least stand against the Cell Jrs., something Tired Goku failed to do. This means Piccolo is not that far from the Juniors. Akira Toriyama stated in an interview that Piccolo always trains in peacetime & off days, which means Piccolo improved from the Cell Games to the Boo Saga.

This ultimately leads to:
SSJ Goten and Trunks >> Piccolo(Boo Saga) >(maybe) Cell Jrs > Piccolo(Cell Games)

Piccolo also knows it took 5 years for Gohan to use what he believed to be the full extent of his potential, and they can't afford 5 years with Boo around.

To be fair, I don't think think it's ignored, I just don't see that many people put the SSj kids below the Cell Jr's. I've always had the kids right around CG Vegeta.

Kid Gohan went from barely above Namek Goku to SSjin CG Goku because of ROSAT especially that was what in Piccolo's mind. Moreover, Piccolo hit his limits at that time at least so?
