Ace vs Vergo

Ace in his prime, before dying, faces off Doflamingo's wingman... who wins?

Ace one shots. According to guidebook Ace did possess Haki, so I can’t see him losing to Vergo after being shown to stalemate Jinbe.

Well, Jimbei was shown to be on par with Gear Second Luffy post TS, whereas Vergo did overpower somenone (Sanji) whom by feats seemed to be n G2 Luffy's vicinity.

Ace could stalemate an Admirals attacks, whereas Vergo found difficulty with Smoker. Ace oneshots.

If anything, that'd just show Ace became a lot stronger by the time of Marineford compared to when he fought Jimbei. With his D heritage and the way in which some characters could get stronger after facing death (of which Ace's battles with Jimbei and Blackbeard certainly were), him being far stronger by the end of his life would make sense and lines up with his feats against Aokiji.

How strong would you have Ace then, Captain?

Likely not as strong as the WB commander top 3 (Marco, Jozu and Vista). Considering post-TS Luffy's performance against Fujitora, I'd say Ace should be above post-Dressrosa Gear 3rd Luffy, though how he compares to Gear 4th is debatable. If fighting someone such as Doflamingo and removing the elemental advantage flames would have against strings, I'd say Ace would win when considering how apparent Kuzan made his superiority over Doffy.

You've changed your opinion then, right? I remember you aruing he'd be no match for the likes of Daoflimingo a while ago.

Yes. That was when I was still factoring in the elemental advantage Ace had on Aokiji but taking more into consideration such as it being stated in Punk Hazard that DF abilities can be overridden with enough Haki and the general fact that Ace was able to react to Aokiji, not to mention Akainu and Aokiji stalemating each other for 10 days when Aokiji's ice should've nullified Akainu's magma if not factoring in their Haki.
