@Mexican Warrior has brought up a lot of good arguments why they should be the same. I’m having a hard time rebutting him as I think he’s likely correct.
The narrative is clear, Gohan is delaying Goku’s training while he’s catching up, once he catches up he will make a great sparring partner. Also, Goku needs a strategy, merely training is not enough. He needs to surpass the Super Saiyan. Just training is not going to be enough.
Is it possible Goku is receiving some decent gains? I guess, but the idea that Goku is going to multi fold his power without surpassing Super Saiyan seems to be highly unlikely.
If Goku hasn’t gained much power in his Super Saiyan form, Grade 3 being a 10x boost over Super Saiyan appears to be a bare minimum requirement.
