Any Reason To Play Gen 2?

I have gen 2 on my 3DS along with the dozen other games I'll never play, and I did intend on playing Gen 2 until I remembered: "wait, I still have my r4 chip! :elmo "

So now I'm leaning towards HeartGold/SoulSilver once again. Is there any reason at all to play the originals? I've already played SoulSilver before, and that was a damn fine game.

Only reason to play them is if you don't have HGSS and want to take the cheaper route.

Actually since this thread is a few days old I should ask if you've bothered to start playing yet.

There's something about the Gen 2 graphics that I love. Despite it obviously not looking as good or playing as smoothly, I prefer the gameplay on it.

While it may be old and little dated, I still think it's a blast to play. You probably would be better with HGSS since it's the same thing but better, but I still think it's worth a play. I'd rather play Gen2 a dozen times over than Gen 1 that's for true.
