Yet Gohan wasn't underrating Goku's base earlier in the fight when he says Goku won't have trouble. There's no reason to invalidate his later statement that the two of them need to team up to win smoothly without the use of Super Saiyan. Furthermore, Goku even taps SSJ2 when he destroys Yakon anyway, so I've no reason to believe he was massively suppressing his SSJ by then. Unless Gohan is as stupid as Pui-Pui is he's seen enough to know Goku's base power.

Gohan hadn't seen Goku fighting when he said he'll have no trouble. He obviously thought Goku was using his
FP Base.
