Best Protagonist?

In terms of Skill, Better duelist, and just overall favorite.

For me in terms of skill: Yusei seemed to be the best. He played closer to the TCG Rules, made all sorts of ridiculous combos beating essentially Godlike cards throughout the series.

Better Duelist: As far as the anime goes we all can agree Yugi will never be surpassed because he's Yugi. It's been over 10 years since the original series ended and he's still put front & center of special openings and makes some sort of appearance in every series whether it's just being mentioned that he was/is the best or just him appearing because...what the hell? Also being completely honest counting ONLY duels that concluded in a win, loss, or stalemate (Disregarding Flashbacks) Yugi technically has the worst duel ratio of all the protagonist. Not even Yami Yugi has the best record.

Yugi - 50% (3/6)
Yami Yugi - 92% (34/37)
Jaden - 93% (76/82)
Yusei - Undefeated (40/40)
Yuma - 85% (52/61)
Yuya - 87% So far (20/23)


TCG Wise: I think Yusei, Yuma, & Yuya would be a toss up.

Overall Favorite: A Toss up between Yami Yugi (Be honest he was the real protagonist of the original series) and Yusei.

Well he's had 48 onscreen duels 8 of them had no result. He did lose to Jack but it was a pre series flashback so that doesn't count. Also people count his first duel against Kalin a loss even though his D-Wheel broke down RIGHT before Kalin's finishing blow could connect. So despite Yusei never technically losing on screen including his flashback loss to Jack and escaped guaranteed defeat to Kalin he still has a 98% Win Ratio which is still better than the other 4. Not to mention he became a legend on Yugi's level or beyond that.

Jaden lost seven duels? The only characters I remember him ever losing to are Zane and Aster Phoenix. Who else?

Well technically he's only lost 3 duels

Zane
Kaibaman
Aster Phoenix
He lost to Syrus in a duel on those handheld things so I won't count that.

Otherwise when he didn't win he stalemated with Zane, Yubel, & O'Brien. So that raises his win ratio to 93%.
