Breeding Shiny Pokemon?

Has anyone actually done this? I've tried doing this: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Masuda_method

With Froakie and Bulbasaur, and I have a couple hundred of each with no shinies. My second Greninja is from France and my second Venusaur is from Japan, so I think I'm doing everything right. I'm going to try this to get a shiny Metagross in ORAS because I really like the colouring.

I hatched a Shiny Pinsir once when I was breeding a Korean Ditto and an NA Pinsir. It was in a Safari Ball and had two egg moves too. Too bad I lost my file.

Also, this is unrelated to breeding, but...

I remember a while back in like 2010, my friend told me that he kept resetting his HeatGold file at a certain point (right before the Ho-Oh battle) and he managed to capture a shiny Ho-Oh. Can you actually do that?!?!

Yeah any Pokémon works so long as it's a from a different region than the other parent. If you want one, I can easily get you one. Just let me know.

And thanks. For what it's worth I also hatched a Shiny Pawniard not too long ago which also had an egg move.

Yeah, but you don't need to reset your file. Just save before the legendary and keep soft-resetting until you find it shiny. Some legendaries are shiny-locked though, like all of the XY ones and Groudon/Kyogre/Rayquaza/Deoxys in ORAS.

I bred a shiny Torchic on Black once. Completely by accident. I probably did use the Masuda method since several of my Pokemon weren't NA,but never felt compelled to try again. Too lazy
