Can Gero accurately sense ki?

This is something I always flip back and forth on. It is clear that he can sense power, and he seems to sense Yamcha's power level easily. But when it comes to others, he cannot.

What do you think?

He didn't seem too good at sensing sick Goku. Perhaps he has a hard time reading battle powers much higher than his own.

He thought 19 would have no trouble with SSJ Vegeta.

He thought he could beat Piccolo after absorbing his suppressed powah.

Well, he only said that #19 went up significantly I believe. I don't think that necessitates him knowing exactly how strong #19 post is. Just that he knows #19 post >> #19 pre. If that makes sense.

I'd say Gero is very accurate on the levels that do not exceed the maximum calculated limits.

He seems to be wary of 19 fighting Vegeta though, implying that after Vegeta he doesn't want 19 to obtain more energy. It's as though he wants to remain the stronger on out of the two. How would he know if he cannot sense?

Well, maybe #19 post doesn't exceed #20 pre, or at least isn't well above him. Like I originally said, he could just be bad with battle powers that are well above his own.

Seems weird for a scientist who made 16's super accurate scanners to have terrible scanners on himself, no?

Another explanation could be that he has some other (more accurate) way of sensing #19, since they're both Artificial Humans, and since #19 doesn't actually have sensible Ki.

The androids can sense each other. 16 knows where Pikkoro stands against 17 and 18.

Yeah, they can sense each other. What I'm proposing is that perhaps #20 could grasp #19's power more easily because he is also an Artificial Human.

Gero can definitely sense their powers. He has his little ki sensing meter go off numerous times. That's how he picks up on them looking for him in the mountains. After his ki sensing thingamajig goes off he starts making calculations.
