Could goku still have been able to teach fusion to the kids if he killed fat buu? I know people say it would've been a smarter move to kill buu then teach them it. But what if he didn't have a choice? Maybe he had to leave killing buu up to them otherwise he would've never been able to teach them fusion after?

Or, he wasn't entirely sure if he could defeat Fat Boo at that moment, and was only sure later on when he found out that Fat Boo wouldn't get any stronger. That's why I think he just resorted to teaching the boys fusion instead of trying to defeat Boo on his own.

Plus things seemed to be happening on the fly. Kaios and Boos and Dabra's spit, oh my. Goku isn't always the brightest bulb, so I can't blame him for not putting together the sharpest plan based on how chaotic things were.

I think it's a combination of uncertainty of being able to finish him and running out of time.

Eh. He had time to charge up a FP KHH for sure, he just didn't for whatever reason. I'd say Mike's reasoning is most solid.

That could've shortened his time though. He managed it by a hair in the first place. He probably shouldn't have even went SSj3. Guess he figured giving it a shot was worth it though.

Goku didn't know how much longer he would be able to use the ssj3 form and hence stay on earth so i'll say he had no choice unless he was feeling risky.
