All the Sith are on relatively the same tier in both Lightsaber skill and strength in the Force, so Vader gets overwhelmed.

I agree that this is too much for Vader. Dooku has some pretty sick lightning which is one of Vader's weaknesses so that certainly makes things difficult for him. Plus I think Maul is probably the fastest here when it comes to saber combat. Not by a lot, but his quickness combined with Dooku's formidable Sith powers gets the job done.
