Never actually used this mon so I thought it would be fun.

Caught a ton of Growlithe's via DexNav, and some have three *** , which, to my knowledge, indicates at least three perfect IVs.

I also have one Arcanine with Flamethrower and Extremespeed, and I want to use that as a parent for my perfect kewl Arcanine. Wot nature and moveset should I go for?

Arcanine @ Leftovers / Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Impish / Bold Nature
- Morning Sun
- Will-O-Wisp / Toxic
- Flare Blitz / Fire Blast / Flamethrower
- Extreme Speed / Roar

  • 248 HP > 252 HP EVs to minimize entry hazard damage, which is important since Arcanine has a weakness to Stealth Rocks.
  • Max Defense EVs makes Arcanine as physically bulky as possible. The reaming 8 EVs can be placed wherever. I prefer Speed.
  • Intimidate further bolsters Arcanine's physical bulk.
  • Morning Sun is mandatory for reliable recovery, especially if you run a Rocky Helmet over Leftovers.
  • Will-O-Wisp burns any Pokémon that's not a Fire-type which also cuts the damage of their physical attacks in half, making Arcanine even more physically bulky. Toxic is an alternative to do more damage over time and cripple Fire-types.
  • Flare Blitz and Fire Blast are strong STAB moves and prevent Arcanine from being too passive. Flamethrower is weaker than both but can't miss and doesn't inflict recoil on Arcanine.
  • Extreme Speed picks off faster threats. Roar can phaze setup sweepers and also deal more entry hazard damage.
  • Leftovers increases Arcanine's staying power. Rocky Helmet can be used to better check physical attackers at the cost of longevity.
  • Impish is the preferred nature if running Flare Blitz and Extreme Speed. Bold is preferred if running Fire Blast/Flamethrower and Roar. If you'd like to run both Flamethrower/Fire Blast and Extreme Speed, a Relaxed nature is an option.

An alternative strategy would also be using Sunny Day and Solar Beam. It requires more setup than the above strategy, but deals with most of the threats that resist Arcanine such as most water, rock and ground types, so long as it doesn't get oneshotted by a powerful STAB move from them.
