Did Freeza increase his power when blocking Goku's Kamehameha?

Don't think he did, or he wouldn't have bragged about his 70% like that to SSJ Goku. Maybe you could make a case for him upping it to 55-60% but I doubt it.

Goku wished that Freeza was bluffing about using 50% during their fight but after he fired KK20x of KHH he confirmed that Freeza was using 50% of his power and wasn't bluffing at all.

Um, Freeza was already using 50% of his power but Goku don't believe it hence he used KK20x to confirmed it.

We know it's not 70% since Freeza treated it like a new level of power compared to 50% and said "you underestimated me! That was only 70% or so!", so I don't think he raised it that far. If he did raise it, it's somewhere around the 55%-60% ballpark, but even then I'm uncertain Freeza did that without mentioning he had to use more than 50%

Him still being at 50% makes sense when goku has to mulitply his power times 50 to surpass 100%.

It wouldn't be anything more than a 5% boost. Otherwise he wouldn't make a big deal out of going to 70%, which was enough power to send SSJ Goku flying.

Why would he only notice after his Kamehameha failed? What would be stopping from knowing from the start?

It's possible Freeza readied his reserves in case he needed to use it to defend himself. I think reserves can be hidden at will, like how Trunks' reserves only started getting noticed when he was growing angry/anxious.
