Did Goku knew that Cell was holding back against him?

I read the manga and it seems that Goku doesn't know if Cell was holding back or not.

It seems Goku confirmed it after Cell powered up to its maximum.

Didn't Cell tell Goku his chances would increase slightly if he got back to full-power? This was after Cell lost a lot of Chi, so Goku probably knew Cell was still hiding a lot of power. He just didn't know to what extent.

Pretty sure him telling gohan that he didn't know if cell was using full power means exactly that. He might have assumed but he didn't know.

He had a shit ton of suspicion but he cant just say it if it hasnt happened I guess.

I'll hop on board the hunch theory. Goku is pretty good at detecting and reading ki, so him having suspicions is very plausible. But as for proof knowing for sure, I don't think so.

Goku knew, but probably not by that huge amount he was hiding.
Gohans anger burst were short and they all thought Ssjg2 was the next evolution.
So goku could not know Ssj2 existed.
So he probably thought that: gohan Mssj FP = FP perfect cell.
But gohans anger burst would win the fight.

Everyone likes to believe that Powered UP suppression PC and 100% MSSJ Goku are close.

Let's talk about the gaps between between these 3.

IMO

Powered Up PC >= MSSJ kid Gohan >> MSSJ Goku

base on the fight with Goku and Cell, it would seem Goku was right there with Cell, or almost at least.."a step behind". But then there's the whole thing with Cell not being able to even touch MSSJ Gohan until he "uses his real speed".

Where does everyone have the gaps? And do people think Cell's ki possibly increase when he increased his speed?

Cell was pretty confident that even if goku ate a senzu he'd still win. Cell was obviously holding back against goku to have a more enjoyable fight. Unless he was referring to his final powerup here, he was holding back both power and speed against goku.

If SSJ gohan vs cell was more of a fight it'd be easier to tell for sure.

MSSJ Goku vs Cell reminded me of 2x KK Goku vs Vegeta, so i give it the same gap. MSSJ Gohan being untouchable by Cell does not indicate
a large gap to me; Gohan was probably helped by his small size as well to dodge Cell's attacks. Remember that, at Early Dragonball, due to his
small frame, Goku speedblitzed opponents with PLs equal to his (Roshi, Tenshinhan, King Piccolo).

Gohan also thought that Goku and Cell weren't giving their best.

Yeah gohan's power there should be much larger than goku's, and if you believe cell and goku were close cell's as well.

Even prior to completing his Rosat training, Goku wasn't betting on his own power to defeat Cell, he was betting on Gohan's hidden power. He only went up against Cell to test his new abilities and in case he couldn't win, Gohan was the next best thing, well.. probably the best thing overall, but Goku likes to fight.
