Did Gotenks suffer from any strain when using SS3?

Is it possible that Gotenks didn't suffer any strain from Super Saiyan 3, but instead just had his fusion time shortened? I know it was only ever stated in GT that SS4 shortened Gogeta's fusion, but does it seem plausible for Z that perhaps fused Saiyans don't suffer the stain of SS3 and instead have reduced fusion time? Gotenks never seemed to exhibit any strain despite likely having less training in the form than Goku.

Yeah I don't think the form was physically straining him at all. His battle with Boo was fairly long, and Boo could not get the upper hand on him even by the end of the fight. Even if you have Gotenks starting above Boo and gradually dropping down, the strain was very minimal. Fusion seems to negate the effects, but lower how much time the form can be used for.

By the time he and Boo brought their fight down to Earth, Gotenks stated he only had another 5 minutes left of fusion time. He ought to still know how long he could stay fused with the form from his training and considering the sequence with his fight as a SSJ had far more pages dedicated to it, I'd assume the fusion time remained the same. It seemed he still had a limited time in the form, however, considering he reverted back to base in the fight with Boo prior to defusing. I imagine that the hybrid potential hax allows him to override the strain of the form, or that SS3 isn't as taxing if you train with the form properly. Goku stated he wasn't used to the form yet, so it could be that Gotenks had more time to experiment and adapt to the form inside the Rosat.

Didn't they only have 6 hours with the roast? Seems like a stretch to say Goku had less time to use it. I'd think it's more due to being a fusion/hybrid that allows them to use the form without strain.

Well, I'm more putting it out as a possibility than a likelihood. Goku stating he hadn't gotten used to the form yet, combined with how much time it took him to transform against Fat Boo compared to Gotenks Boo or Pure Boo would suggest his achievement of SS3 was very recent and he hadn't tried it out much. It may very well have been the second time he'd tried it for all we know.

I believe the lack of time in Super Saiyan 3 in Fusion was the trade-off for the lack of a physical strain.

Still don't know how Boo was able to get more time out of the Fusion than Gotenks did.

Maybe a small amount, nothing remarkable from the looks of it. Could be a perk of the fusion, since Kid Goku (GT, pre-tail) was drained quite quickly from SSJ3's usage despite having a similar stature to Gotenks and his previous adult experience with the form.

That's what I thought as-well. Fusion being shortened is the draw-back of the form in fusion.

Fusion is pretty much combining the attributes of two people, so it wouldn't surprise me if fusion greatly boosted the stamina of the kids as well, thus allowing them to ignore the strain of SSj3.
