That Vegeta calls himself 'The prince of all Saiyans' because he wasn't able to cope with the loss of his father? Despite King Vegeta being murdered, he never actually stepped forward and took the throne. Whilst on Namek, the mere thought of Freeza killing his father brought him to tears.

I don't think he really cared. After Dodoria told him the truth, Vegeta said the fate of his home planet wasn't a big deal, but he was pissed that he allowed himself to be used by Freeza. When Freeza talked about how weak of an opponent King Vegeta was, Vegeta only seemed annoyed that Freeza was making a big deal about a level he had already surpassed as a kid. Vegeta was just mad that he and his fellow Saiyans were all slaves for someone like Freeza and he was unable to stop him.
