While discussing with you guys about Gohan being SSJin/2 against Dabura, I noticed that Gohan seems to know that Vegeta has SSjin2 way back from Saiyaman arc.

Chapter: 426 (DBZ 232), P4.2-3
Context: Vegeta talks to Gohan
Vegeta: “At that time there was a large gap between our powers…But what about now? While you’ve been enjoying peace, I’ve continued to train.”
Bulma: “That’s right! He doesn’t work one bit! Just like your father! I guess Saiyans just don’t work.”
Note: "that time" was the Cell Games, presumably.

Now some of you might think that he was talking about their SSjin powers but that doesn't make sense if Vegeta indeed rival or surpass SSjin Gohan then Gohan would still destroy him with his SSjin2 power. And if Vegeta indeed rival or surpass Gohan's SSjin2 then Vegeta's statement makes a lot of sense.

Furthermore, after witnessing Gohan's SSjin2 power in the Budokai, Vegeta was disgusted by it and openly stated that he and Goku are stronger than SSjin2 Gohan but not so much in terms of enrage SSjin2 Gohan.

What do you guys think?

Vegeta showed surprise Goku had surpassed the Super Saiyan wall and Goku reacts with shock as well to watching Vegeta transform, so I think AT had long forgotten about that by the time he wrote the Babidi segment :idk

The shock value of Goku was because of the strength of Vegeta which he didn't expected Vegeta to be that strong but it turned out later that the Majin wasn't just an ordinary thing but a power up as well. It kinda makes sense to me.

Vegeta makes multiple overt gestures that suggests that he knew Gohan slacked off during the 7 year gap and without any training at all, why would Vegeta expect Gohan to be capable of using SSJ2 when he couldn't even do so as a mere kid without rage?

Why can't Gohan turn into SSjin2 without rage like he did in the tournament? Moreover, Vegeta said that he and Goku are stronger than Gohan in Babidi's ship and Gohan and Goku seems to agree with him. Does that mean SSjin Vegeta > SSjin2 Gohan according to you?

Vegeta completely discriminated Gohan ssj2 in the Cell Games and later stated on Babidi's spaceship that himself and Goku are now stronger than Gohan is. Gohan should have been smart enough and realized Vegeta had surpassed the SSJ wall, unless he thought Vegeta SSJ was above his SSJ2. Yet he apparently didn't know considering his statement later towards Vegeta and Goku fighting in SSJ2, in which he stated Vegeta was "perhaps" a SSJ2. Does that make Gohan an idiot for not having realized it? Yes, but that's still what the dialog somewhat implies.

That depends. If you believe Gohan was an SSJ against Dabura, then that can easily be explained since context can easily illustrate which form Vegeta was referring to.

I believe Gohan was SSjin2 against Dabura which actually makes sense for Vegeta to call him out being a weakling and that he and Goku are stronger than Gohan unless Gohan goes enrage like in CG. With Goku and Gohan agreeing to it then that means they knew that Vegeta has a SSjin2 and similarly Gohan knew that Goku has a SSjin2 since he felt Goku's burst against Yakon.
