Drawing the right card

This was brought-up a few times in quite a few places and it made me think. In the anime/manga it seems to be considered more of a skill, the drawing of the right card. Kaiba when Yami Yugi activates Osiris acts as if that was a matter of skill in the anime and he is obsessed with defeating him when he drew a complete Exodia and defeated him as if that was not just down to luck. In the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime or somewhere there is this weird montage where they show duellists training by...wait for it, just drawing cards. As if that's a skill.

So what you say?

Proof that skill in YGO's anime/manga is measured by luck and plot armour. :troll

The most blatant examples of plot armor signifying skill were when Atem lucksacked Slifer at the last second (which Kaiba actually praised lmfao) and later managed to guess whatever cards he drew without even looking at them. Hell, I'm pretty sure if you used his outdated deck irl you'd pretty much need to top deck to win duels competitively nowadays :Paladin :Paladin :Paladin

Yeah, so it's considered skill in the anime. Or some source of power from where-ever else.

Sounds like someone just doesn't believe in the heart of the cards tbh

Is it an actual heart? we egyptians believe in very specific real life things!

Heart of the cards is a dub thing tbh.

It's just an expansion of Yugi babbling about how he believes in his grandfather's deck in episode 1 and how he can draw the right card if their hearts are connected or some BS iirc

Yeah, but the dub made more out of it than what the original had it as. They even made it into a catch-phrase.

The dub changed a whole bunch. Not just censoring blood or digitizing guns out, but even the plot itself got changed lmfao. In the original Pegasus wasn't actually stupid enough to think he could revive his wife with a duel disk and Millennium Items and just wanted to see her hologram and Marik wasn't going on about taking the power of the pharaoh to rule the world, Yami Bakura didn't act like a clueless side villain for 190+ episodes despite having his memories intact (like in the dub) etc.

Considering how much an a constant asspull the power of friendship is in all arcs of YGO, giving it a name associated with the show seems somewhat fitting.

I never got to watch the Memory World Arc right sadly. Seems like that was the best arc in the whole series though, since they finally ditched the whole card game and seemed to get more serious. Was that really the best arc in the whole series?

Manga-wise I'd prolly say so since it's nowhere near as dragged out as the Battle City arc and actually had some pretty mature themes despite rushing like crazy near the end, anime wise it's even more full of plot holes than the rushed manga and basically isn't very good.
