Am I the only one that finds Boo's plan to be nonsense? He says he noticed Gohan's power, thus he kept the kids alive in order to absorb them. If this was the case, why would he even fight Gohan at all when he knew Gohan would be able to vaporize him?

He apparently recognized Gohan as the dumbass he KO'd along with Kaioshin when he was Fat Boo, so appearances somehow overrode his ability to read Gohan's ki I guess.

First, he doesn't know who it was. Second, he wanted to test Gohan's new abilities and third, he wanted to buy some time for kids to fuse again. Also, it give kids a confidence to fuse again because even if they lose, Gohan is still there to beat Boo.

Fair enough points. Only thing is he didn't know about the fusion time limit until Gohan was already there, so he could have fled.
