Fan-Service

Fan-service is good and all as long at it doesn't get in the way of the story. Series that put Fan-Service before the story, in essence build a story up around the Fan-Service or Fan-Service moments (not all the time, but it can happen), end-up being incoherent most of the time. I don't think fan-service is the problem it can be good as long as the story takes precedence but a-lot of series don't do that because there's more money in just brainless fan-service. Case in point - DragonBall Super.

This doesn't apply purely to anime/manga, but I think it's a big enough problem in some series that I could talk about that here and I mainly did this for CC's challenge.

I find fanservice to always be a damaging quality to a series since, as the name implies, it holds no service to the actual narrative and is just there to keep the fans' attention. It's not exactly an absolute red flag, since some moments of sexual fanservice can be excused if used rarely in a series and not over the top (eg. Winry's bath scene in FMA:B doesn't detract from the plot) but it stands that a series without fanservice will usually leave less to complain about.

I agree that shows or manga made purely for fanservice are absolutely worthless. For instance, any DB product made after BoG or the spinoff Saint Seiya: Episode G - Assassin are works to just bring back old characters the fans like through a paper thin plot of excuses. Going outside of anime/manga, the same can be applied for Game of Thrones from Season 5 and onward, where the complex web of intrigue and interesting characters is for the most part replaced by characters doing cool shit, saying lines almost designed to be memes or simply making revelations the fans have been wanting, regardless of the logic behind them.

I think it depends maybe. If you like what's being given via Fan-Service it's alright, if you don't then you think it was a waste.

I don't have a problem of fan service. But the ecchi moments are not for me IMO.
