Fan-service is good and all as long at it doesn't get in the way of the story. Series that put Fan-Service before the story, in essence build a story up around the Fan-Service or Fan-Service moments (not all the time, but it can happen), end-up being incoherent most of the time. I don't think fan-service is the problem it can be good as long as the story takes precedence but a-lot of series don't do that because there's more money in just brainless fan-service. Case in point - DragonBall Super.
This doesn't apply purely to anime/manga, but I think it's a big enough problem in some series that I could talk about that here and I mainly did this for CC's challenge.
