Favorite gym battle?

As in, who's ass did you enjoy kicking the most?

I actually have the fondest memories of taking on Brock. It was sort of like a right of passage to the rest of the game. Plus, yellow was always my favorite. I would grind out Pikachu to lvl 20 and then take out Brock with double team/quick attack.

Yeah I had a very difficult fight with Brock due to starting with Yellow version as well.

As for the topic none of the gym leaders really made me struggle that much besides him, except maybe Clair and Sabrina during some of my Johto runthroughs. Elesa was kind of hard too I guess.

The Miltank one was the worst along with Brock initially. I'm pretty sure I struggled with quite a few when I was younger because I did the minimum battling/levelling.

Yellow changed things up from Red and Blue by allowing you to catch a Mankey before getting to Brock, since double kick was effective against rock-types. But I never wanted to waste the xp so I fought it out with Pikachu.

 

[Symbiote]

Mankey was never able to learn double kick. The Nidorans were available before Viridian Forest and they had DK.
