1997 Berserk - Awful Cliffhanger
Rurouni Kenshin - Never adapted the Jinchu Arc and instead chose to go with terrible filler content after Kyoto.
Great Teacher Onizuka - Manga starts to lose steam not long after the material from the anime was done, though there were still some story arcs I'd have liked to see done.

Not adapting the Jinchu arc is music to my ears.

GT is the only series I've watched that I can recall being cancelled during its time. I guess I have to go with that.

I love the jinchu arc. Good stuff.

I really liked Hikaru No Go, even though it's pretty much a given that series was going to be cancelled.

I never watched the show, but it evidently ended a full arc before the manga. The anime ending spot seems better than the manga, but both are lacking.

X/1999 manga, it never finished and is considered to be on a hiatus. But the hiatus started over 10 years ago. 2
