It seems every gen introduces a new weak-ass bird pokemon that eventually evolves into something kewl. Which is your favourite?

Mine is the Fletchling line. I think Talonflame is one of the best Gen 6 Pokémon. So much speed. Mine is level 100, with flame charge, roost, fly and quick attack, and I think that's a great moveset. Flame Charge increases speed and does decent damage, fly is of course one of the more useful HMs outside of battle, but it's also a really, really good move in-battle, and Roost restores a ton of health (might be all health actually) w/o having the user sleep, IIRC, so that's Kewl.

It also has a kewl design and flame body, which is gr9 for hatching eggs. Talonflame has great in-battle and out-of-battle usage. Partner it with Mega Rayquaza and you have a deadly combo right there. :cage2

Talonflame. Speed is kinda pointless though if you have gale wings.

Talonflame since it's the only competitively viable bird Pokémon. Mega Pidgeot is outclassed by Tornadus-T and uses up your mega slot.

Birds have progressively got better with each passing gen. Although I've never battled competitively and that's completely different from a game CPU

Pidgeot
was useful back in the day and the Gen 3 remakes.

Noctowl
meh, I've caught lots of them in the 15 or so years I've been a Pokémon fan but I've never really used it.

Swellow
was a speedster and saved my butt lots of times in Ruby

Staraptor
was pretty good with it's speed and high ATK plus being able to learn Close Combat was good coverage for Rock/Ice/Steel-Types (Although the cost of DEF/SP.DEF is a hefty one).

Unfezant
has ATK as good as Staraptor but better DEF but it's slight lower and has worse Sp. Def. The design for a Male Unfezant is cool though.

Talonflame is bit more balanced with it's stats and has STAB with Fire-Type moves but I think it's the fastest of the Regional birds or it competes with Swellow in this regard. I've heard all sorts of good things about Talonflame being good competitively.

It's hard for me to say. I haven't used Talonflame or Unfezant in actual games, I've used them in hacked games (Unfezant for Light Platinum and Victory Fire and Talonflame for Dark Rising 2) and they're good but it's not the same thing. So far from experience with actual games I'll just say Staraptor.

Missingno, he's not a flying type, but a "normal/bird" type. He also gives me infinite rare candy without busting my game. I should have invited him to my wedding.

Pidgeot is my favourite aesthetically. Not sure which my favourite is practically.

If only referring to the bird Flying Types you get early game, then Talonflame for the reasons already mentioned. If talking about any Pokemon with a design based on a bird, then Braviary by a large margin.

I liked Fearow. Used him pretty often on my way to bigger and better Pokemon. Plus, it usually wasn't a total pushover.

It might be because pokemon pearl was my first game, but I'd say Staraptor.
If not Staraptor it would be either Braviary, Skarmory, or Crobat(if he counts).
