What's your favourite Yu-Gi-Oh! Story Arc? You can say it from any Yu-Gi-Oh! series, doesn't only have to be the first one.

You could also say your favourite from each show, but not hafta. ;) ;) ;)

YGO – Honestly, I think it would have to be the Grand Championship mini-arc these days. Battle City is nostalgia central and it's great, but I get quickly annoyed by the oversaturation of the God Cards, and Waking the Dragons is a groovy follow-up but it's so high stakes that it's almost too much. Grand Championship has no God Cards and is a light turn from the darkness of the Orichalcos.

GX – I can't really remember any arcs other than the bit with the Sacred Beasts, and that was just okay. It would've been better had Jaden not gotten forced into the spotlight at the cost of other characters' development.

5Ds – I remember barely anything about this show, let alone entire arcs.

Zexal – :troll

Arc-V – :gives

Duel Monsters - Most of the story arcs were good from a dueling aspect only half of them were good. Best story arc of the original I guess I'll say the Orichalcos Arc. I thought it was fun had some great duels. Battle City is a close second for me.

Orichalcos >= Battle City >= Virtual World >> Dawn of the Duel > KC Grand Prix >>>> Duelist Kingdom

Best of the Original Series: Waking The Dragons/Orichalcos

GX - I didn't even know it had storylines because the plot was all over the place. At first it's just Jaden dueling episodic characters that would never be seen again. Later on we actually got plots but even then it would go a few episodes dedicated to the current story arc than an episode pretending they aren't in some serious shit. The last season with the threat of Nightshroud was good but the duels were meh. Jaden was impressive but his duels not so much.

7 Stars > Society of Light >> Darkness > Survival Tournament > Other Dimension > Everything Else

Best of GX: 7 Stars/Sacred Beast Arc.

5D's - I've been watching this series more lately and I think I will say this is the best YuGiOh series. I don't really count the first season as an arc because when I hear the word "Arc or Saga" I think of a rather serious event happening that the main characters HAVE to do something about. The first season is really about Yusei getting even with Jack and getting Stardust Dragon back (as well as setting up for the Dark Signers Arc.) After that we good a damn good arc with the Dark Signers and then a significantly weaker arc with preparation for the WRGP and that was good and set up for the Divine Temple Arc.

Dark Signers > WRGP >= Divine Temple > Fortune Cup > Road To Destiny/WRGP

Best of 5Ds: Dark Signers

Zexal - :facepalm and because 1 isn't enough :facepalm :facepalm :facepalm :facepalm

Arc V - I haven't seen enough to say which Arc I like.

So I'm going with the Dark Signers arc as my favorite Yugioh Arc. The duels were epic, were introduced to Crow who's like my 2nd favorite 5D's characters and I love the season finale duel of Yusei, Jack, & Crow vs. Goodwin.

I've only watched original.

Duelist Kingdom: This arc was my first contact ever with Yugioh. Also, by coincidence, the period i watched
this was one of the happiest periods in my life on like every level. That's why this arc will always have a
special place in my heart. It wakes up so many memories. I had still no idea about the game rules, so, not
realizing how messed up the anime rules were at this arc, i focused on the story, enjoying the drama. I
really enjoyed the duels too, even though i didn't understand what exactly was going on, not knowing the
rules and all.
Battle City: An okay saga, the filler parts of the fights could've been better. By that time, i had learnt how to
play in real life. Marik's childhood story was touching.
Virtual World: The dueling system with the Deck Masters was an interesting concept, i wish they did it in real
life too, it'd have been a helluva lot better than Synchro/XYZ shit. Kaiba's backstory was great, as opposed to
the manga.
Battle City Finals: Like Battlecity, duels' filler parts could've been better. The final duel (Yugi vs Marik) was
nowhere near as dramatic/climatic as DK's final duel (Yugi vs Pegasus).
Waking the dragons: I loved this saga and i don't get why most people hate it. It had the best choreographed
and technically perfect duels. Well, with the exception of the final one. Mai's and Joey's development was
awesome.
Grand Championship: That was totally bull. The story was a bad copy of battlecity, the fairytales
archetype was awful and the final battle left me mixed feelings.
Millenium World: This is the only arc where the manga is so much better than the anime.

Ive been rewataching each series and I've had a change of heart on some of them

Duel Monsters
Battle City = Orichalcos > Dawn of the Duel > Virtual World > KC Grand Prix > Duelist Kingdom

GX
Yubel's Dimension > Society of Light (When it was consistent) > World of Darkness > 7 Stars (When it was consistent) > Fillers that every season had.

5Ds
Dark Signers > Ark Cradle/Divine Temple > Fortune Cup > W.R.P.G. > Road To Destiny

Zexal
What I could stand of the Barian Arc. > First 26 Episodes. But whip cream on shit, is still shit

Arc V
Miaimi Championship > Synchro Dimension (Current Arc. at the moment) > First 24-26 Episodes.

Overall I still stand by The Dark Signers Arc. being the best arc of the whole franchise. Literally EVERY duel was a delight. It was more than you're standard good vs. evil and the good guys triumph. Each Signer/Dark Signer (Barring Devack who's just there) had some type of backstory and connection to their target making each of the duels personal and you could feel the emotion. Prime examples being:

Jack vs. Carly (A main character actually admits to being in love with another person and was even willing to force his duel with her to end in a draw so he can die with her? How about that)?

Yusei vs. Kalin (2 former friends battle it out over a misunderstanding that lead to one of them dying and in the end it's all water under the bridge)

Yusei vs. Akiza (For the 2nd time Yusei lets her make him her punching bag to show her he cares about her and wants to be her friend than reunites her with her family and comforts her when she finds out the guy who took her in after pulling an "I'll always be there for you" out of his ass was just using her to make her into weapon for war).

Yusei vs. Roman (We learn Roman knew Yusei's father and that HE caused Zero Reverse while Yusei's father wanted to stop it before it could happen but he still created it and Yusei feels like that burden is on him and he feels guilty about it and questions how can his foster brothers call him that when it was his dad's fault for creating the thing that killed their actual parents and that his father created Stardust Dragon, Red Archfiend Dragon, Ancient Fairy Dragon, & Black Rose Dragon).

Crow vs. Grieger (Crow's kids basically being killed and he admits to having nothing to live for and is willing to risk his life to get them back, and Grieger trying to settle a score with Yusei but finds out he became the thing that essentially killed his family)

Akiza vs. Misty (Another misunderstanding where we learn that even when Akiza thought her life was improving she finds out that she possibly murdered a young boy and now his sister wants to kill her for revenge but learns that same guy who took her in was responsible for Misty's brother death and had no shame in admitting her called for him to be killed in cold blood and was fine with letting Akiza take the wrap for it. Than what happens? Misty orders her Earthbound Immortal to literally eat his ass)

Dark Signers Arc. was literally the perfect Yugioh arc imo. From it's writing, to the characters, to the duels.

Only seen the Duel Monsters series in full, so for that, either Battle City or Orichalcos. The former had the best duels of the series, though many of them were dragged out anime-wise. The latter was extremely good filler up until the last few episodes, where Yugi's win was complete PIS.

After watching the Grand Championship mini-arc again sometime ago, I have to say it's definitely not as good as I remember it. Granted, the idea of Kaiba Land and all it entails is amazing -- just the fact that there's a duel robot with Yugi and Kaiba's strategies/decks is enough to get me through the door. The arc falls apart with its characters and animation, though. I can't for one second take the group of duelists in the tournament, the supposed best in the world, seriously. They're goofballs and cannon fodder, which is hardly what could be said about the likes of Strings, Arkana, Rafael, Valon, etc. The people in the tournament never posed any threat to Yugi, even without the God Cards, and it wasn't a pleasure watching as these wimps were futilely hyped up as anything more than wastes of space.

And boy, the animation got terrible at some points, specifically when Kaiba dueled Zigfried. What in the hell happened there? It's comparable to DB Super's atrocious episode 5 animation. You'd think they'd treat the best duel in the arc, with the tournament's creator in it no less, with a bit more respect, but the way it is now makes it appear as an afterthought when the budget got low.

Battle City and Orichalcos are pretty much tied for me now.

The KCGP was definitely better when I was younger and you would think a duel as amazing as Kaiba vs. Zigfried would have better animation than it did. But that seems to be a thing in Yugioh, just look at this shot of Aporia from his duel with Yusei during the W.R.P.G.

I've been keeping up with Arc-V and trying to give Zexal a shot. Arc-V started off kind of randomly with Yuya facing random people in one or two shot episodes where the duels were...bad. However it picked up during the Arc League Championship. While it has slow down since the Lancers came to the Synchro Dimension it's starting to pick up again.

Zexal.... I tried 6 separate times to watch it and on my 6th try I'll say the Barian arc is massive improvement story telling wise, but I do find myself skipping episodes that don't seem important after skimming over them, not mention I'm contemplating on whether I should just stay strong or binge my way through the last 30 or so episodes to be fair or just quit now and come back to it, at another time assuming I do come back to it. Not to mention it's barely meeting me at the half way mark. Having a somewhat interesting story that is improvement is good but the action/duels haven't been good barring 2 of them.

I'm in the middle of the Orichalcos arc, so I don't have as much choice. Battle City takes this one for sure. I loved Duelist Kingdom too, but mostly when I'm looking at it through nostalgic lenses.

The Synchro Dimension of Arc-V is really starting to drag on. At this point in time the Friendship Cup just feels like a rehash of the Fortune Cup from 5Ds but less or no meaning this time. Rather than the plot keeping me interested, the only things keeping me invested are the duels (which are more entertaining than good/amazing) and the fact that we have Crow & Jack in the series. Although it does seem to be picking up.

I did love the Egyption arc in the manga, it was pretty awesome. Also the duel between the Yugis was pretty great for a final duel.

Manga wise - Millennium World

Anime wise - Battle City, not much of a choice when half the other arcs are filler or adapted badly
