Freeza vs Cooler?

Who do you prefer as a character, Freeza or Cooler?

Our panel was unanimously in favor of Freeza. Respect was still given to Cooler, with enough "cool" jokes to fill a Saiyan Pod But in the end, Freeza was chosen as the better of the two.

With all the build up we got for Frieza I have to give this to him the more we got to know the guy the more scary and unbeatable he seemed. Until Goku had finally turned into a Supersayain.
Whereas cooler wasn't typically someone Goku couldn't beat.

Frieza is one of the greatest villain in history of DB. He fought all Z Shenshi and made Vegeta begged for his life. He also destroyed Goku's homeland and people which is a perfect story for Goku's legacy. He forced Goku reach his limits to beyond.

Cooler on the other hand is just copy from Frieza. He did not show any new things except his 5th form.

Cooler simply more entertaining to me. Freeza is a great villain, but I don't care much for him.

They both suck. They're both incapable of learning from mistakes.

The end of Cooler 2: Electric Boogalo was the dumbest thing ever. He has an invincible army of 10 billion guys who are stronger than his enemies, so naturally, he decides to bring them onto his ship, leave his army behind, barely restrain them, while they're in Super Saiyan, while he's right in front of them, completely vulnerable, on the Droid Control Ship that has no defenses to speak of. If he had even slightest ounce of sense, he'd have his 10 Billion Coolers kill the Saiyans right then and there. Naturally, since he controls Planet Namek, he's already wished to have his body restored and granted himself immortality.

Then there's RoF. "I'm different this time", says Freeza. Ok. Cool, so obviously your transformation doesn't use too much... power... Oh. You're no different at all, huh?

Still, both of them had decent first appearances. I like Freeza more, but maybe that's just because he was onscreen a lot longer.

I'm the other way. I like Cooler because he didn't overstay his welcome. The anime and to an extent the manga dragged too long with Freeza and I became quite bored.

Freeza is the better villain, but RoF sucks as badly as M6.

Freeza's appearance could have been shorter, but I felt like Freeza's actions made him more threatening that Cooler. Cooler just wasn't as effective. Dragon Ball is very much about having long fights with big explosions and cool moves. Taking that a bit far and perhaps harming the pace of the story isn't unexpected.

With Freeza, we saw all kinds of scary things. He toys with Nail and rips him a new ass, even though Nail's way stronger than Vegeta. He brutally impales Krillin, he brutally murders Vegeta, he blows Krillin the fuck up, he humilates Kaio-Ken x20 Goku while using half his full power, he gets up from a planet sized Spirit Bomb, damn!

Cooler doesn't do that stuff. He takes Goku's Kaio-Kens just as well, but Freeza's already done that. It has less impact this time. He doesn't kill anyone at all, he doesn't torture anyone, he fights in a pretty standard fashion. Sure, he burns Goku's back, but that's nothing all that interesting. He laments not learning from his brother's mistakes, but ends up being even more stupid in his second appearance.
