Let's open the can of worms.

Goku and Ultimate Gohan fuse. Goku uses SSJ3, while Gohan suppresses to that level. What happens to the power that Gohan suppressed? Is it lost as a penalty for having to match Goku's level? Is it included in the fusion?

I feel fusion is a new being formed from the component powers of the two beings that formed it. So only the used power is included IMO.

Plot...
Wouldn't it be the same if Goku and Vegeta fuses? Equal or around Ultimate Gohan's level?

Extra power is probably lost. The fact that Goku considers himself fodder to Super Boo who is weaker than Gohan, yet can fuse if suppressed to equal levels tells me Goku basically meant "two people of similar size can only fuse when suppressed to the same ki" rather than that they must always be close in power. Considering this I doubt the large portion of Gohan's ki he hid away still goes to the fusion

I don't think that any power is lost. Rather, it has to be drawn out after fusion. Square peg, round hole. Two people need to fuse, and one has to supress to fit the other. That energy and density still exists, its just taken a different form. Saiyans are a special case too, because they have transformations that can raise power. We don't get any great details on non fused Saiyans in the series, so I don't know how this same situation would play out with, say, two Namekians.

But then Gogeta would magically retain, say, ki from Goku's Super Saiyan 3 even if he and Vegeta fused in the Super Saiyan 2 form. Considering Gotenks couldn't access Super Saiyan at will until post-Rosat, I doubt any extra ki or transformations still goes into the fusion when people fuse at a suppressed state.

Maybe. But there's a difference here between SSJ and Ultimate. One is basically a base form, as you are, while SSJ is a transformation, and a temporary one at that. I'm not sure how I feel about applying the same rules to both. But I need some coffee anyway for my brain to handle dbz fusion talk so early. I'll be back.

Yeah, I have a hard time believing that Super Saiyan 3 Gokhan would top only top out above Gotenks Boo if Gohan's extra power was used.

Do you think Gokhan = Gogeta?

But if Gohan could suppress himself to Goku's SSJ3 level, Gohhan should indeed be superior to Gogeta, no? Vegeta cannot be as strong as a SSJ3.

I don't think so because all 3 would be able to use SSJ3 because of Goku

Let's say Goku and Vegeta are 100

Gohan would go to 100 for Goku.

Gohan suppressed (100) + Goku (100) x fusion multiplier x SSJ3 (80x for me) = Vegeta (100) + Goku (100) x fusion multiplier x SSJ3 (80x)
