Future Base Trunks vs Future Imperfect Cell

So logically unless Future Cell was not near his peak, shouldn't Base Trunks be well below his level of power? How did he blast Cell miles out of the city with just a simple kiai? Cell even looks pissed off and acknowledges Trunks' improvement.

Cell thought he could just one shot Trunks easily and Trunks caught him off guard.

I can agree that Cell was off guard, but someone who should be much weaker than 18 shouldn't be able to even budge Cell. Piccolo's LG was even tanked by the same (?) Cell.

This Cell is just as strong as Ginger town Cell right?

There's no way to know really... It's possible he didn't even start absorbing people I suppose considering it was his first interaction with
Trunks.

I would hazard since there was no reason for him to be that strong in trunks timeline (androids being dead, trunks being the only fighter left) that he's probably weaker than gingertown cell. But there's no real way to tell.

Just like we have no idea how strong trunks and vegeta are in base after the second rosat. Obviously trunks took him by surprise, but he absolutely toys with cell in SSJ so maybe him blasting cell out of town in base isn't that odd.

I don't think Cell was caught off guard. Trunks got his hands up like he was about to attack while talking a lot about "Let's fight somewhere...". Cell had more than enough time to prepare himself. 70% Kia'ing Goku SSJ is what be taken by surprise is supposed to be.

Future Cell had an aura, while Ginger Town Cell lacked one, so I'd say Future Cell (Trunks' timeline) > Cell (Ginger Town).

As strong as Present #18 sounds good.

I wouldn't say Trunks would have to be weaker than #17/18 in base, at least not Future #17/18, since the gap between the present and future versions is pretty large, coupled by the Boo Arc Base Saiyans being at bare minimum, significantly above #18 via scaling. There's also the 3 year gap between Trunks returning to the future and him killing Future Cell to take into account, which is ample time to improve.
