Future Goku's return from Yardrat

Trunks made it apparent he knew Goku would return roughly 3 hours after Freeza landed, yet Trunks saw waiting as no longer being an option against Freeza and Goku implied he'd have teleported to Earth not long after Trunks cofronted Freeza. That said, how would you explain this arguable inconsistency? A gap in Bulma's story of the Dragon Team confronting Freeza's soldiers and essentially having a FnF prototype take place? Goku telling the group he would've got there in 3 hours in his pod? etc.

One might say it's in Trunk's character to leap into a situation with the desire to eliminate a threat as quickly as possible. He quickly dispatches Freeza, tries to blast away the androids as soon as Gero activates them. Plus, he fought and killed Dabra without playing dumb games against him like the Saiyans did in the main timeline. There's a few other examples, too.

Where as Goku and Vegeta are more prone to waiting around to see what the villian will do, Trunks as always been more impulsive and prone to action, even if the situation doesn't call for it.

The thing is, Goku's responses to Trunks when talking to him suggest he was prepared to teleport straight there if Trunks hadn't been there, which would go against him arriving in 3 hours' time.

Maybe Trunks arrived 3 hours earlier than expected, took the time to go bang a hooker (brothels in the future are closed due to most of the population dying) and Freeza also arrived extra early to join him in fucking Earthling women with his YUGE tail-cock.

When I first watched DBZ, I thought that Goku was about to teleport the moment that Trunks interfered.

You'd be right to assume such, hence why there's an arguable contradiction between Trunks' account of things and Goku's mindset.

Trunks seemed perplexed that there was a time discrepancy. Did Freeza arrive earlier than expected in this timeline?

That's the only other possibility, potentially a result of Cell arriving a year before Trunks. Unfortunately, it does require for yet another part of the arc to be handwaved away as "because time travel" without cause and effect actually changing things for those involved.
