It's basically sci-fi berserk when it comes to being edgy and disturbing.

It pretty much jumped the shark when a bunch of naked alien women formed votron style into a giant naked woman that was defeated by getting fucking in the mouth. Pretty hard to top that.

Haven't read it, though know enough about from what I've heard to not have much interest in it. It can only really be classed as disturbing in terms of not knowing what's going on due to most of it being completely random. It's mature content it's just sex and violence without much depth, so just edge with not much else to offer. It seems alright as dumb entertainment, though if expecting a dark series even half as good as Berserk, it'd be better to look elsewhere, especially when I doubt you'd want to read what's basically 450+ chapters of a B-Movie-esque series.

The mangaka's current work (Inuyashiki, I believe it's called) seems to be a better series too, since despite having some outlandish concepts, it's plot and themes seem like something that could be taken seriously.

I felt some of the main characters arcs were going pretty good, until they wiped the main characters memory and then cloned him.

After that I was out.

I'll give it a final score of 4/10.

Everything up until Izumi died was pretty tolerable and entertaining.

Mind you I was stoned while reading this so the randomness of Gantz was more entertaining due to that. Cool concept, some parts were done well, however too much of it was horse shit that makes you think "what the actual fuck am I reading?".
