Why do you have them so close, if I can ask? They were said to be barely holding their own, meaning they are just about powerful enough to fight evenly.

Just edited into my post. D7 has them as equals, and Vegeta seemed to be trading blows in the manga. I didn't see any sign of him being inferior, even slightly.

For me, I wouldn't go with the Daizenshuu here but that's me. Cell said they were barely able to fight evenly with them, what do you make of that? I take that to mean they are just about enough to fight evenly with the Cell Jr..

I dunno, maybe Cell is just saying that to try to get to Gohan? When the Cell Jr struck Vegeta, he matched it with an equal blow. I think that implied they were equals. Even Trunks looked equal, and he's inferior to Vegeta.

I'm not sure. I thought the whole point of the sequence was for Gohan to get angry and that if he didn't become angry soon, they'd all be dead. The TV-Series potrayed that decently I think. Not Piccolo being able to fight them off or the humans, just Vegeta vs Cell Jr..

He was able to beat-up a bunch of them at the same time.

As for Vegeta and trunks, unless the cell jr's were actually holding back against them, the gaps are really close.

They're incredibly close, enough to have an even battle.

The same gaps as Kamikaze Pyro. The Cell Juniors and Vegeta seem to be fighting evenly, with both exerting a great deal of effort in their punches and being knocked back in same proportions. Cell's line implies that the Juniors are slightly stronger though, and that Vegeta and Trunks would eventually lose.

How do you see Cell's line of "Enough playing around, kill them now!"? Does it mean the mini Cells weren't serious against Vegeta and Trunks as well?

To me as well. Cell's line is a bit weird anyway, considering initially he said he doesn't care if their opponents get killed.

He's not even elbowing anyone, he's wiping blood off his mouth. Though if he'd hit something it have been tenshinhans groin, not a cell jr.
